Back Home and Travel Options Considered...
Back in London and thinking about the trip home, as well as the time spent in the Pyrenees - which remains without any doubt in my mind, a biking paradise. On the day and half run home I have much time to think about the last couple of weeks and all that we did - maybe I could have done with this bike and trailer. Is this a top-up tank he has made? I was also weighing up up the options for travel down and worked out that for the 1,100 mile door-to-door trip, not allowing for

Wheels & Waves - Day 4
Wow! What a final day. The plan was to ride the 160 plus route suggested by the organisers and meet up with others along the way. The route is shown here: As is the French way, there was no-one to ask about this at the main venue, everyone was left to their own ideas, and (of course) it could be ridden either way... Being British, I opted for clockwise, heading first for Sare - roads I know well and use for the business. Weather was a bit grey and damp, much cooler when you c

Wheels & Waves - Day 3
And the event goes on - Saturday brought out more bikes, more people - see picture here: Today was a more surf focused day for the event, with no riding but lots around the main venue. I have noticed that there are some clear trends, such as:- * The French (in particular) love Triumph Ducati and Harley classics * Not many sports bikes on show - some naked bikes but the classics rule * Only seen one other Triumph Explorer, the than mine. So I have exceptional taste or am in a

Wheels and Waves - Day 2
Phew, so many bikes here now!! Here is a pic from the enduro parking and this was less than half the bikes there. I watched the enduro guys attack these rough and muddy hills, all yours and good to see some very skilled women taking part too The setting is a small town in the Pyrenees south of Biarritz know locally as St Pee - no comment... Now the weekend is almost here, there are riders from all over Europe, and I met guys from Oz and the US today too - obviously they did N

Wheels and Waves, Day 1
So here we are, in the thick of it!! Great day, stayed dry and in fact it was hot!! Went to Punks Peak - a good ride out to the hills in Northern Spain, just inland from San Sebastian. Huge turnout, loads there and met some great guys from the UK too. The format is a hill-climb race, two against each other and bikes graded by engine size and age. Here is a shot of the pit lane: In the picture above is a Vincent Black Shadow, and here he goes against a much adjusted Triumph -

Happy Customer and Bikes in Biarritz!
This is Mark, riding home from Anglet (Brit-In-the-Basque HQ) yesterday, in wet and wild conditions. So sorry that the weather was so awful but under that lid he is smiling! We had two days of wonderful riding, covering a huge amount of roads, mountains (wolves) and views - video to come soon. Wheels and Waves starts tomorrow and riding around Biarritz today, bikes are everywhere. Here is a picture of some gents who rode down from Bordeaux, ready to get into their hotel and h

The things you see....
Back down in Anglet, HQ for Brit In The Basque and riding this weekend with a client. Heading down, I saw many new things and found a wonderful road south of Limoges, with overhanging rocks that were very unusual - picture here:- This road follows the path of a river and was deserted with some awesome bends - a good find for another day! One other interesting sight was an open air Laundrette, (Laverne in French) at a local filling station near Bergerac. Clearly it is used and
